another block, shall study more

A few things has been going on lately. Another new block has begun (Genitourinary Block) for a week now, three days ago was my mom's birthday (and I failed to surprise her for the second time T.T) and I have been updating fkuph08's website since last night up to this morning.

I was quite pissed that I failed to surprise mom. I mean it was because the waiter in the restaurant, where we had mom's birthday dinner, didn't show up with the "small cakes" that I bought on time. According to the plan, he was supposed to show up with those small cakes on his hands when mom was paying the bill. Instead, it was when mom was outside the restaurant on her way to the parking lot, when he came with those cakes and holding a lighter (candles wasn't lit yet). My dad had to catch her up and bring her back to the restaurant. My auntie (mami) was kind of pissed as well, both towards the waiter and me because when we were ordering food, she chatted with me in YM, telling me that it's better to surprise mom that very moment. It wasn't exactly my fault, though, because I didn't get that message in my ebuddy. But well, mom did try to comfort me by saying "Ya udah, kita foto dulu deh. Thank you ya" and I know she said that simply to comfort me. We did took several pictures, both with mami and my two gu2s (autie from my dad). And yes, she did blow the two mini candles that the restaurant gave me :)

Happy birthday, mom ^^

Although LOs for the next day quite "haunted" me during the birthday dinner, I did have fun, of course because of unagi and other reasons as well.

Speaking of LOs, I kind of regretted that I didn't study on Monday and Tuesday nights, which is why I didn't talk so much on Wednesday. Fortunately, I did manage to read some kidney physiology on sunday night so I was able to say a few things although it was beyond Dr. Darwin's expectation (I think). I planned to finish off kidney physiology by the end of Friday (yesterday), but didn't. Instead, I was updating fkuph08's website and continued with writing a new case report for Clinical Exposure until around 3 or so in the morning (diagnosis stage was still empty). Did some "refreshing" then was off to bed at around 3.30. Woke up a bit late in the morning and continued with the case report up until this afternoon at around 3pm or so, ate my late lunch for a while and was then off to rest. When I woke up at around 6.15pm, my family was home except for my youngest sister who was attending her friend's birthday. Did some song-downloading and had my dinner although my stomach still seemed full.

So that's basically what's going on with life and the story goes....

writes again

Morning! After a long break, I think it's time for me to write something ^^ actually a friend of mine "kinda" reminded me that I didn't write for quite a long time.
So, it's now my fourth semester in Faculty of Medicine University of Pelita Harapan and I've been doing quite okay both academically and with friendship. Last semester's examination results have been announced around two weeks ago. Some were surprised, some were satisfied, some were just happy and some were just "without any expression". Mine were.. well, not as expected, but it's quite okay though.
During Christmas break, I went to Surabaya to meet my grandma, uncle and family, and my grandma's cousins. It was great to meet them after all these time :) I planned to stay in Surabaya until 7th January, but my friend offered me to go to Bali together with three of our friends on the 4th. Two of my friends and I did arrange the accomodations and soon we were off to Bali and were back on the 7th. Okay, now back to the present.
I've been quite struggling with the new block, Gastroenterology (it's basically studying about the digestive systems and all the organs involved). The schedule is a bit unusual because up until last block we had at least one lecture everyday, but during this block we have like three labs and only about 2 lectures in a week. It's as if we purely learn by ourselves with only a little bit of "guidance" from college board. Yes, we do still have PBL classes to trigger us to self-learning, but still, lectures are important as well.
It's the end of the 4th week and still have another week to go (next week's topic is on pancreas). I just hope that the next block's schedule is way better than this block's and have more lectures so that we are "guided" more because I feel I didn't learn as much as I'm able to.
Okay, I guess quite enough about college.
CHINESE NEW YEAR IS COMING VERY SOON! Next week, precisely. Soo excited to greet family members with "kiong hie kiong hie" or "gong xi fa cai, shen ti jian kang, wan shi ru yi, da jia ping an, yong yuan xing fu", not because of the red envelopes, though. Okay, I'm a bit hypocrite. Fine, of course I'm waiting for all those red envelopes, with piled paper money :) Oh by the way, Chinese New Year this year is celebrated together with Valentine's Day! It's not a big deal for me, though, because I don't think I have something special for Valentine's Day.
Then four days after, I'll be celebrating my mother's birthday together with my friend's birthday as well. Two years ago, if I'm not mistaken, my mother's birthday was celebrated together with Chinese New Year. Well maybe some day, I'll be able to celebrate my birthday together with Chinese New Year? Maybe :)
Soo I guess I'll be waiting for 12 days for both Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day while struggling with Gastroenterology block. Exams are after the next block, Kidney if I'm not mistaken. It'll be like Musculoskeletal and Cardiology exam, which were during the same week. This means: STUDY HARDER, I hope so. It's just quite hard for me to "climb the stairs". It's a bit of my fault though because I wasn't focused and wasn't studying hard enough during my first year especially the second semester, which was meant to be my "foundation" for my course in Faculty of Medicine. I regret that a couple of times. Argghhh, I hope I'm able to catch up and study harder, and hopefully the results will be satisfying.

harry potter is coming to town

Yes, yes, yes.. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince will be in cinemas tomorrow!!
So those of you, Harry Potter fans, grab a ticket fast before it solds out ^^

It's been a while, about two weeks, I think. We ate dinner together with pikko and jengko to celebrate dad's birthday last week. Nothing much happen between my last entry and now, actually.

Oh, I'm in the process of opening an online store (still secret though ^^) just wait for the good news.
Soo, approximately a bit more than one month of holiday left. But when you count those days for mentoring tranning and mentoring at UPH festival, it's cut to about 3 weeks.
I can't wait to meet the new med students of uph. I hope they're great, especially that I'm going to be one of the mentors (please, let me have those nice people).
Okay, so I'm uploading a video of the last song (Heal the World) sung during Michael Jackson's Memorial Service. It's taking and will take a long time coz it's about 600MB (uh huh, the video is like 4 or 5 minutes long), but it's worth it though, when what you recorded won't happen again.

When I think again about the memorial service, I realized that people will feel the sorrow, will feel the loss of someone important in history, after that person has died. An example is Michael Jackson. I don't think people ponder THAT much during his shows, but after he died, people began to craze about his albums, his songs, and began to want to get anything related to Michael Jackson (Jacko).

I cried very hard when his daughter, Paris, spoke in the memorial service. It was, indeed, touching, except for those probably who don't have the "heart", they wouldn't care to cry. I still remember her facial expression, her voice, when she said "He is the best daddy ever" between her cries. And when she said "I love you, daddy" tears flooded my cheeks. It was extremely touching. I'll post the link as soon as the upload finishes.

ubud.mom dad's anniversary

Had short visit to Guwang for only about 20 minutes or so.

Headed to Bebek Bengil for lunch, but we stopped by Ibu Oka's Suckling Pig. Took pictures for a while after we ate, then headed to Ubud Traditional Market.

We did ate Black Russian Pie, then had about 3 pieces for take away.
We're planning to stop here at Ubud Traditional Market for only about 30 minutes to one hour, but I bet we're going to take longer than that. It's 13.20 now and we're planning to see the sunset at Kudeta after a short stop at home to take a bath and prepare for dinner at Hard Rock Cafe.

Can't wait for dinner...

discovering kuta

We took off from home kind of late,at about 1145 wita because the car was used by my dad for his appointment. We headed to Kuta area to eat lunch.

At first, we planned to eat at Rasa Sayang in Teuku Umar, but we finally agreed on Laota, a Chinese Restaurant in Kuta. Food was very delicious, all of us were satisfied. We ate sour sweet fish, rainbow porridge (their speciality), seafood sapo tahu, and fried shrimp with mayonnaise. Along the way, we had a short stop at Santo Fransiskus Xaverius church near J Boutique Hotel to ask about their Holy Eukarist schedule for today and tomorrow, since Mom and Dad's anniversary is tomorrow.

Afterwards, we drove to Discovery Mall Kartika Plaza just to walk around, to see what's up there, also to take a short visit to Ocean27.

We planned to have dinner there to celebrate my parents' anniversary. The waiter had to take some papers about their menus or something like that and they took such a long time that we decided to walk around the mall first while mom and dad wait there. Soon, we met them and they said something that I'm unsure of, then we all started to look around the mall.

s.k.l (seminyak.kuta.legian)

We took short drive to Bali Bakery. They were having their 15th birthday,so they served complimentary mini cakes with chocolate fountain.

We took another drive to Bali Deli to see the so-called delicious menus. Then we had a short visit to Bintang supermarket to buy some essential daily needs, such as 'women' needs, aqua and all those things. We headed to Seminyak area to look for Ultimo restaurant to look at its menu and to book for dinner.
Believe it or not, it's completely booked, my mom had to plead so that we're able to eat there for dinner. Headed towards body and soul to shop.

Mom and dad planned to have some reflexology while we walk around the area, but it was kind of hard to find one with a reasonable price. We thought about going to carrefour, but due to our shortage in gasoline, we headed to the gas station and then to Ultimo area.

We still have 1.5 hours, so we had a slow drive around the area near Ultimo so that we'll be in time for 6pm, the hour we booked at Ultimo.

feeling unwell

The third day at Bali, we are in Renon to drop off my dad and will soon be heading towards the city to eat lunch at Merthadani, I think that's the name. Its speciality is similar to Warung Wardhani, nasi campur.

At first, we were planning to go to Kuta and Seminyak area, but it seems we'll go there after lunch. Currently waiting for my dad and he's finished. And mom, is as usual, kind of pissed of waiting him for a few moments.
